CARE AND TREATMENT OF YOUR NEW JEWELLERY

Just as a great Chef respects his ingredients, so too you must show love and respect to your jewellery and it will make you feel empowered and beautiful for a very long time.

Rough treatment of jewellery can dent the metal, chip stones and enamel, and dislodge pearls. Most stones, stone inlays and cabochons as well as enamel will chip, break or get dislodged if they are dropped on a hard surface.

REMOVE your Exuberant jewellery before any activity that could risk damaging it such as cleaning, showering, swimming, and heavy physical activity. Except for sterling silver jewellery without any stones or enamel which can withstand quite a bit, avoid lotion, sunscreen, hairspray and any other chemicals with your jewellery. This is vital in the case of pearls, fossils, most stones and wood.

Furthermore, many of our jewellery pieces are large, our rings in particular, so we therefore suggest you use common sense and avoid wearing large rings when caring for small children, or working with power tools.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

Silver naturally tarnishes in contact with air and humidity. When you are not wearing a piece store it in a plastic bag or special felt pouch.
Polished silver is easy to clean with a silver polishing cloth.

We make many of our pieces in a matte finish and provide you with a small coarse sponge when appropriate. When your piece is tarnished, wet the sponge thoroughly, add mild dish soap and pass the sponge over the piece, following the direction of the texture if one exists.

It is important to do this with water and soap NOT a dry sponge.

Gemstones are not all made equal. some will be softer and more delicate than others and will therefore risk being scratched by harder stones. Keep in mind that diamonds scratch almost everything including other stones and glass! Keep them stored apart. Clean with a damp soft cloth. Mild dish soap may be used.

Some gemstones change colour or fade in sunlight so keep them in a dark place.

If you own an ultrasonic cleaner avoid putting stones into it, they don’t all do well in it.

Pearls can scratch and need moisture. They are happier in a soft cloth bag or wrapping, away from other jewellery and sharp objects that may scratch them. Wipe them off with a soft cloth after wearing them.

Wood can also be scratched by other jewellery or objects. Pack individually to avoid this. As you can guess, we have no control over the climate in our customers regions! Wood is prone to cracking in extreme dryness. We use diverse woods from many different countries and although we have had no problems in Canada with the wood assemblage in our jewellery, this might not be true in your region. If this is the case, we apologize.
